As many of you know Matt is currently in Bogotá, Colombia. The US Embassy recently posted information about traveling in Colombia. Part of the article reads, “Violence by narcoterrorist groups and other criminal elements continues to affect all parts of the country, urban and rural, including border areas. Citizens of the United States and other countries continue to be victims of threats, kidnappings, and other criminal acts… Although the U.S. government places the highest priority on the safe recovery of kidnapped Americans, it is U.S. policy not to make concessions to or strike deals with kidnappers. Consequently, the U.S. government’s ability to assist kidnapping victims is limited.”

I spoke to Matt on the telephone today and he is doing just fine. He is visiting with an old co-worker, Stephanie, and her family and is having a great time.

He was originally supposed to return to Anchorage on Saturday, October 7th, however, he has decided to stay an extra week in Bogotá, to research more about travelling safely in Colombia. He will also be updating the page during the week so watch for new posts.

Thanks for all your continued support.
