For the occasional visitor who checks up on my blog, I wanted to say hello and give a quick update.
I have been traveling in Eastern North America for the past month. In early April I left from Denver, Colorado, and drove eastward. I made stops in Chicago, New York, Montreal, Quebec City, Boston, Cape Cod, and other various other locations in the Northeast. I am currently in Manhattan for a few days. Next week I will drive toward Florida, making stops on the way.
The other important news of immediate relevance is that economist Jeffrey Sachs recently released his second book, Common Wealth – Economics for a Crowded Planet.

I am about a third of the way into the book. So far, Common Wealth is similar to Sachs’ first book, The End of Poverty, except that is slightly less technical, and contains more discussion about population growth and global warming than his first book.

Interesting – I’m reading this book now as well. I actually came upon your blog when I googled Columbia. We are looking possibly moving there and I wanted to get some perspective from an American point of view. Enjoyed your pics and the detail on the poor section with the happy (looking) kiddos. We’ve spent the past 6 yrs as expats (2 yrs in Bahrain, and now 4 in Japan) and we have the itch to move on again. Nice to see the great documentation on your travels and your thoughts. Good luck on the upcoming documentary! Gaelin
