Tue 9 May 2006
Two years ago, I decided to quit my job and travel around the Americas. Since that time I have driven through major portions of North America, as well as flying to to Bogotá, Colombia, and Córdoba, Argentina.
In August 2006 I began by driving North from Thousand Oaks, California. In 2006 I drove around much of Western North America. In 2007 I worked for nine months in Denver, Colorado. During spring and summer 2008 I drove around much of Eastern North America.
The map above reflects my travels, through June 2008, within the continental U.S. and parts of Canada. The blue lines represent the path traveled. The red lines represent the planned route.
In addition to traveling around the Americas, I took a side trip in to New Zealand, in January 2008, to visit family.
I originally planned to drive between Alaska and Argentina during the course of a year. I slowed my pace along the way, however, in order to allow time to take photos and learn about local cultures and economies.
During the second half of 2008, I will be in Denver, working on my blog and other writing projects. I will continue traveling in 2009, within Latin America.
This blog is updated sporadically but continually with photos and stories from my travels, as well as thoughts on economics and social problems.
I am an active member of the ONE Campaign, which is part of the International Campaign to End World Poverty.
I actively promote the ONE Campaign’s message, which is that the United States should fulfill long-standing commitments to increase funding for
International Economic Development.
The Video Log section of the website is a work-in-progress. I will upload videos from my travels as time allows.
The Teddy Cam section features photos of my mascot, Ernesto “the Bear” Guevarra.
Thanks for visiting!
